Who has ever been to Budapest in Hungary was probably surprised as much as I was with its beauty. This is a really fantastic city with a lot of possibilities on how to spend the time!
That time I was traveling with my friend. After returning back we have calculated the total costs and found out this was one of the cheapest weekends we have spent! We have traveled by train from Prague, which took 6 hours very convenient hours, spends reading and watching the landscape of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
If you are a wellness lover, you would probably appreciate the famous Thermals in Budapest – Széchenyi. Also, you can try Hungary cuisine or just visit some of the fancy Italian restaurants, which you can find plenty in the city center. The same is valid for great cafés in the city center.
We have been in Budapest at the start of December to see Christmas markets – there were surprisingly not many foreigners at this time of the year, but the Christmas markets were nice and fulfilled nicely the advent atmosphere. If you want to avoid crowded Budapest, we definitely recommend the end of November and the start of December to achieve it!
After we crossed the famous chain bridge and pass the seat of the president, we have discovered “Ice Palace”, which is actually known as the “Fishing Bastion” due to it is placed in the former fishing market. What a place! With a fantastic view of the Parliament houses and all over the whole city of Budapest!
We stayed in the hostel (Friend hostels and Apartments) near Oktogon and I have to say it was a fantastic place to stay! Not only the hostel itself but around us were so many restaurants, cafés and the main street leads us to St. Stephen’s Basilica – another beautiful monument and famous symbol of Budapest.
Situated in the center of Budapest, near Opera House, close to Oktogon and great restaurants and cafés. There is a 24-hours reception, free Wi-fi, flat-screen TV, X-box game console available.

Budapest is a great city with a lot of possibilities on how to spend the time in it. Whether you choose those or another hostel, they all are situated in the city center, nearby all the important places like St.Stephen Basilica, Parliament Houses, Thermal Baths, Chaine Bridge.
I personally recommend visiting Budapest during not so crowded months as e.g. before Christmas or in earlier spring. Spending the time in some cozy café has magic, or spending time in some of the thermal baths is the kind of experience you can really enjoy in the capital city of Hungary.
