Best hostels in Vienna/Austria

Do you plan to go to Vienna – the capital city of Austria? If so, and if you are looking for the best youth hostel, you are in the right place! We are here to introduce the best hostels Vienna offers!

Viena is a city definitely worth to visit – not only due to its historical meaning, Prater – very famous amusement park, or Hundertwasser buildings that takes breath, but also due to its great gastronomy – especially for the cake called Sacher, and of course Wiener Schnitzel (the original one is made from veal, be aware of that).

schönbrunn palace

So, if you plan to go to Vienna, we recommend spending some time there to have enough time to visit and discover also e.g. Belvedere or Schönnbrunn (the best buildings are mostly in the city center of just a few stops by public transport away) and enjoy the atmosphere of city center full of stylish cafés, restaurants and in the evening we recommend to visit Prater – the center of fun and joy (especially if you travel with little kids).

Vienna is quite close to the Czech Republic and Prague, where I live, still, I was there just twice, the last visit was 2 years ago – what I really liked was the Hundertwasserhaus (st. Kegelgasse 36-38) – also very close to city center and you won‘t regret spending your time getting there, because this place is really magical!

Hunderwasserhaus Vien

Don‘t forget to visit the little shops nearby, decorated in the Hundertwasser style – therefore so stylish and cute – you will feel like in another world, I assure you that! The best thing is that it is not all that you can see in relation to Hundertwasser architecture…

…because from the Hundertwasserhouse, you could move to another Hundertwasser building named Kunst Haus (st. Untere Weißgerberstraße 13) with Green Museum and a very pleasant café (I ordered Sacher there and it was like in heaven!).

So, you can see there are places you cannot miss during Vienna visit and also there are places you cannot see anywhere else than in Vienna, therefore is this city full of tourists from Spring to Autumn and we cannot blame them!

Hello. You really got me with this post.

I would like to go to Vienna to visit the Christmas fair. I know it’s still open in January and I and my family want to go now because it’s no longer crowded. During this period it is much easier to visit this splendid city and find a place to stay overnight. My favorite is Vienna Hostel Ruthensteiner and we will definitely choose this place. The garden is beautiful with all the greenery, and from what I see inside everyone is having fun and you can do different activities (playing guitar, karaoke or board games). Thanks a lot for sharing with us this amazing hotels from Vienna.

    Wish you all the best!

Hello and thank you for stopping by!

Going to Vienna just after the Christmas period is a great idea! The problem is in the Ruthensteiner hostel there won’t be probably many green plants during Winter as it is shown in the pictures, but still, it is a great time of the year to visit Vienna!

We are happy our post helped with the accomodation choice. We wish you a great time and nice trip!

Wow! In Vienna, are there hostels like hotels? If that hostel is in my country, it will be a 4 star hotel! Believe me …

To be honest, I have never visit Vienna. However, based on the hostel you recommend, it seems very interesting to be able to vacation and visit Vienna. Plus, I just did a price check overnight there. Which turns out, is very cheap when compared to several states in the US.
Therefore, thank you very much for the reference website (I bookmark this website). I will try to plan a vacation to Vienna and stay at the hostel you recommend.
By the way, do you have any recommendation for the hostel booking application?

    • Renata

This post just came when i needed it the most. I am someone who traveled a lot and some times i end up in some really bad hotels and suffer from lack of so many things and even the comfort of a good enough bed. On seeing there nice hotels, i am beginning to have interest in paying a visit to Vienna one of these days. The Prime room 2.0 Boutique hotel seem really great and the environment is very simple.

    • Renata

      Hello!

Thank you for the nice comment! We are always happy to show some quality and proven accomodation properties. You are right, there is a lot of different hostels available, not all have proper quality and offering enough comfort to its guests. My adventure and tourism will definitely bring me to Vienna one day am pretty sure of that.

    • Renata

      Hello Carol!

Prater is really a great place to enjoy a day when you come to Vienna, I have been there once as a child and have a lot of experience even as an adult:). It is one of the oldest fun parks in Europe.

We hope you will enjoy your trip to Vienna when you come there eventually!

Thank you for stopping by and your comment and we wish you all the best!

I’ve only been to Vienna once, back in primary school, so I can barely remember how it was. After reading your post, I want to visit again. While Prime Rooms 2.0 boutique hostel looks so nice, I have to say that not being in the city center is a minus for me. I prefer central locations and based on your information I will check out Gartl Apartments&Hostel; – I love the fact they even have a courtyard. Now I have to convince my boyfriend why weekend escape to Vienna should be added on our 2020 travel plan 🙂

    • Renata

      Hello Katja!

      Thank you for stopping by!

Hopefully, you will have a chance to visit Vienna and choose some fancy hostel we have recommended and let us know your feeling about that:). Staying in a hostel is not for everyone, but the reality that they offer private rooms as well is really cool – so also couples could stay in a hostel and have their privacy.

I wish you a great year 2020 and all the best!

      Bye Renata

Thank you for this review on Vienna hotel and hostels for youth; I have always heard of Vienna and my concept of this city is a big city with lots of industries and opportunities, I don’t know if I am wrong.
I will like to know if there is any major festival celebrated in Vienna and when does this festival take place. I think visiting during the festive period will be very interesting

    • Renata
