Let’s look at the cultural life in Reykjavik – would you like to come to some of the festivals or celebrate New Year’s Eve in this charming city with your friends?  This is, what you should know before you go:

Alcohol is expensive at bars. People tend to drink at home before going out. Beer was banned in Iceland until 1 March 1989 but has since become popular among many Icelanders as their alcoholic drink of choice.

The Iceland Airwaves music festival is staged annually in November. This festival takes place all over the city, and the concert venue Harpa is one of the main locations. The arrival of the new year is a particular cause for celebration to the people of Reykjavík. Icelandic law states that anyone may purchase and use fireworks during a certain period around New Year’s Eve. As a result, every New Year’s Eve the city is lit up with fireworks displays.

  1. I think your site is an awesome niche! I did a cross-country trip in America 22 years ago when the internet didn’t exist. I could only go by a book I got from a hostel in my hometown. But hostels are a great way for young people to explore the world more affordably and meet like minded people!

While I’ve never been to Iceland, I would love to go! It’s great you have seasonal events and helpful facts for people’s research!

Having a website that is a resource for hostels is something I wish existed years ago. But it just couldn’t have at the time, lol.

  2. I am so glad I found this site. I love Iceland, and I was thinking of visiting Reykjavik as soon as we are able to travel again. I was looking for a hostel, that would be child and pet friendly. I think I have found just the one.

I am almost positive I will choose Bus Hostel Reykjavik. I love that it has an outdoor terrace. I also love that this hostel has private rooms because it is more convenient to have your room when you have a small kid. And I love that you can get the bed linen and the towels there because you don’t have to have so much luggage.

Thank you for your suggestions, you made my decision much easier.
    Have a beautiful day,
    Katja

  3. I must say this is really nice list as i have never been to Iceland before but i must say that i have to visit Iceland as i have heard its one of the best to go on a vacation.. I like to take the galaxy pod hostel for a spin as it looks to be top-notch and i love top notch.

  4. I have always heard from my friends that iceland is a beautiful place but i did not believe. some times i even argue with them but this is a confirmation that i was wrong. the hotels reviewed in this article are awesome and the number one is the  galaxy pod hostel. i love it.

  5. Galaxy Pod Hostel is a futuristic-designed hostel offering dormitory rooms and sleeping capsules in Reykjavík. The
start of the pedestrian portion of Laugavegur..i have been ther quite a few times and i must say its one of the best youth hotels that i have ever stepped in and i must say i would love to always go there.
