Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea, a seaport and the center of Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Did you know Dubrovnik joined the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites in 1979? Still not sure whether is this destination worth visiting?

The prosperity of the city was historically based on maritime trade; as the capital of the maritime Republic of Ragusa, it achieved a high level of development, particularly during the 15th and 16th centuries, as it became notable for its wealth and skilled diplomacy.

In 1991, after the break-up of Yugoslavia, Dubrovnik was besieged by Serbian and Montenegrin soldiers of the Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) for seven months and suffered significant damage from shelling. After repair and restoration work in the 1990s and early 2000s, Dubrovnik re-emerged as one of the top tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

A good article with good recommendations about where to stay in Dubrovnik if you are travelling on a budget or simply want to save some money on your travels. I have always want to visit Dubrovnik, so i will certainly bookmark the article and consider a few of the hostels in the review.

A lot of good tips in the article regarding restaurants, location in relation to attractions. Nice short history about the city as well. I didn´t realise that the city was renowned for diplomacy back in time.

From the article it seems that you know the hostels from experience, have you visited all of them?

    kind regards,

    Roy

    Hi Renata,

Great article. A relative of mine had a vacation in Dubrovnik two years ago, She visited the Dubrovnik Bell Tower and she could not stop talking about it, I guess it was an amazing experience for her. Thanks for the article, the information you provided is really useful for tourists and people planning vacations. Among the list you provided, I like the Number 1 and 3 option and they seem really affordable. I prefer the first option more on the list because it offers free breakfast. Thanks for sharing.

    Ciao Renata,

I love Croatia and I’m planing to go on September (hopefully this present crisis is stooped by the time we’ve arrived there). I’ve been to Zagreb and several other small town but have never been able to go to Dubrovnik.

And I’m surprised with this affordable option, Hostel Dubrovnik. And the quality it delivers for that price. I’ve bookmarked this one. Thank you very much.
