Top hostels in Bratislava/Slovakia

Bratislava is the capital city of Slovakia – a fantastic country with great people, gastronomy, and mountains (Tatras). So, a place I recommend to visit! Bratislava is a city approximately 3,5 hours by car and 4,5 hours by train in the south from Prague (Czechia and Slovakia were 1 country in the past so these two countries have a lot in common).

I was in Bratislava once and I fell in love with this city. Currently, there is a lot of new buildings and it becomes a very modern and popular European city, where the prices are very reasonable and the gastronomy unique and tasty!

Top hostels in Bratislava

The old city of Bratislava has a great atmosphere, you can go through it quite fast, admire local products and art and get to the Bratislava castle – also a very nice place to see!

If you come to Bratislava by bus, the station is newly renovated and from it, there is a nice walk through Danube riverbank to the city center – along with new restaurants with a great view on the Danube – I was there in September and I felt so cool in this place!

You can, of course, enjoy this city before Christmas as well as during Summer. And if you ever visit Slovakia, don‘t leave without eating national Slovakian food – brynza gnocchi, this is a food I was suckled on (my mother is Slovakian and a lot of Czech people has some Slovakian in their families) and still, I love this food (yes, after all this years).

Hello, I really want to first appreciate your effort in putting this great website together and writing this article. i have always dreamed  of going to the dream hostel in bratislava from the very first time i read about it and now with this explicit information i think i will plan to go there on my next vacation

Wow! Very inspiring article. I felt suddenly my backpacker soul reappeared after more than 5 years, never doing backpackers again.
Backpacker-ing is very fun in my opinion, because by doing that, we can feel the beauty of being a tourist. And not infrequently, the local does not feel reluctant to talk with backpacker tourists. So, we can learn and gain a lot of knowledge, culture from them. It’s Amazing!

Honestly, I have never been to Bratislava, and from your article I can see the beauty of the city.
However, I will try to arrange traveling there backpackers and try to stay at the good hostel that you offer.

Bratislava is definitely an underrated city to visit, a good place to spend a short break, a quiet place to walk around. An escape from the crowd of the more popular European cities such as Vienna. The streets felt less crowded and it was hardly to wait in line for many things, less queueing.

  • Gayle

I am so happy to have come across your website today! I have always wanted to visit Slovakia because I think that it is a hidden gem of a country.
Your images are beautiful, I feel like I am there already, the architecture in Bratislava looks amazing, it looks like a very historial city, I would love to take a tour around the castle firstly.
With such a great range of hostels to suit all age groups, it would be a tough decision as to which one to choose from as they all have a vibrant, arty feel about them.
Thank you very much for sharing your first hand knowledge about this amazing city and for your recommendations on what food to try for holiday makers!
